Rippers (CD, DVD)
Ripper is a software program that "grabs" digital audio from a compact disc and transfers it to a computer's hard drive. The integrity of the data is preserved because the signal does not pass through the computer's sound card and does not need to be converted to an analog format. The digital-to-digital transfer creates a WAV file that can then be converted into an MP3 file.

GiantDisc is a package of software tools. It consists of
Linux server scripts to manage and play mp3/ogg/flac tracks, and
a Palm remote control application which allows to fully control the audio server.
No screen or keyboard needs to be attached to the headless server. The software has been designed to efficiently manage thousands of audio tracks. It also offers the possibility to record CDs and import/export mp3, ogg vorbis and flac tracks.
The whole design makes entirely use of standard hardware and free software. GiantDisc is available under the terms of the GPL license.
