Relational Database:
A database system in which the database is organized and accessed according to the relationships between data items without the need for any consideration of physical orientation and relationship. Relationships between data items are expressed by means of tables.

Aditi is a deductive database.
Deductive databases are logic programming systems designed for applications with large quantities of data, the kinds of applications that are at present programmed in SQL embedded in a host language such as C. Deductive databases generalise relational databases by exploiting the expressive power of (potentially recursive) logical rules and of non-atomic data structures, greatly simplifying the task of application programmers.
The ultimate goal of the Aditi project is to show that this generalisation does not have to compromise performance.
