Machine vision is the application of computer vision to factory automation. Just as human inspectors working on assembly lines visually inspect parts to judge the quality of workmanship, so machine vision systems use digital cameras and image processing software to perform similar inspections. A machine vision system is a computer that makes decisions based on the analysis of digital images.

E-Stereo
E-Stereo is a C++ library that enables to perform real-time dense stereo from 2 or 3 rectified images. It relies on a two-pass algorithm. The first pass consists in a correlation-based algorithm (SAD). The second pass grows disparity regions with respect to photometric constraints.
The current version supports the following stereo input configurations:
2 images (left-right)
3 images (left-right-top) e.g. as provided by Digiclops' PtGrey systems.
